State Team Qualifiers from the Championship

The final 5 spots on the State Team were filled from the Championship. The first two Anglers and Co-Anglers and the third place boater as the alternate. The Anglers are Johnny Duarte and Ed Owens. The Co-Anglers are Michael Miller and Corey Singleton. The alternate is Stanley Gunter. Since both second place finishers (Bryan Gunter and Ken Lawhon) had already qualified for the State Team, the next place made the team.

2018 Championship Results

Johnny Duarte won the 2018 Championship on the Angler side on Lake Greenwood with 28.98 lbs which included the big fish of 5.63. Michael Miller was the winner on the Co-Angler side with 14.86. Greg Miller had the Co-Angler big fish of 4.77.

State Team Qualifiers from the Six Man

The top 6 individual qualifiers from the Six Man tournament have earned a spot on the State Team. The first 3 qualifying as boaters are Edward Singleton, Jonathan Brindel and Daniel Jackson. The next 3 qualifying as Co-Anglers are Bryan Pipkin, Scott Perrine and Scott Piatt. The last 4 qualifying spots (2 boaters and 2 Co-Anglers) for the State Team will come from the Championship on Lake Greenwood November 9 and 10. If you have fished a 2018 trail event or the 2018 Six Man, you are eligible to fish the Championsip.

Carolina Hookers #1 took first place at our 2018 Six Man Tourney on Clarks Hill with 78.22 pounds. Gaffney #1 was second with 75.69 and Conway Bassmasters #2 was third with 74.38. Edward Singleton of Carolina Hookers #1 was the individual winner with 22.23 pounds. Our last stop for 2018 will be the Championship to be held on Lake Greenwood out of State Park November 9 and 10. Greenwood was randomly drawn as the site for the 2018 Championship to be held November 9 and 10. We will use the State Park Landing.

Chris Jones, Gregg Fogner, Gary Pope and Stacey Proctor Qualify for 2018 BASS Nation Championship

Chris Jones was the leading boater for South Carolina with 23.12 followed by Gregg Fogner with 22.09. Gary Pope won the overall co-angler title with 17.06 lbs and Stacey Proctor was the overall second place finisher with 15.13 lbs.

Delaware was the winning state team with 172.09 lbs with South Carolina taking second with 171.09 lbs. Delaware wins a fully rigged Triton.

Next Year's State Team Starts To Take Shape

We have our first 10 members for next year's state team as the trail part of our schedule has concluded. The Anglers are Brian O'Connell, Brent Long, Greg Walker, Bryan Gunter and Hayes Hudson. The Co-Anglers are Jarrett Hughes, Brian Brown, Landy Filyaw, Ken Lawhon and Ron Rutledge.

Gregory Benton took first place on the Angler side with 14.41 and also had the Angler big fish of 5.44 out of Georgetown. Brian Hughes took first place on the Co-Angler side with 8.72 and also had the Co-Angler big fish of 3.66. Six man coming up October 12 and 13 on Clarks Hill out of Dorn.

Bradley Gunter took first place on the Angler side with 12.44 on a tough one at Wateree. Carlus King had the Angler big fish of 4.73. Ken Lawhon took first place on the Co-Angler side with 6.92. Johnathon Kelly and Joe Castella of Coastal Carolina won the SC BASS Federation Nation Sanctioned South Carolina Collegiate State championship on Lake Hartwell March 10, 2018. They will advance directly to the BASS College Nationals to be held in late summer 2018.

Hayes Hudson Wins at Lake Murray

Hayes Hudson (Mr. February) took first place with 16.45 at our first trail stop of the year on Lake Murray on the Angler side. James Calhoun took first place on the Co-Angler side with 9.41. Greg Walker had the Angler big fish with 8.51 and Rashad Goodson had the Co-Angler big fish with 4.57. A 4 hour fog delay made this an interesting start to the trail. Next stop is Lake Hartwell out of Twin Lakes Landing.
